The UU Church of Marblehead will be hosting an interesting art exhibit this November at the Stetson Art Gallery. Parable artist Rick Pierro will be displaying 20 + abstract watercolors, depicting well known bible stories and parables from the book of Genesis to Revelation; hence the exhibit name “A Stroll Through the Bible.”

Rick states that after a moment of prayer and a request of divine guidance, he selects the colors to use from a kaleidoscope of Dr. Martin inks that come in 2 oz. eye dropper bottles and begins to impregnate the moistened watercolor paper; every paintings is born in prayer, baptized by water and consummated with God’s eternal pallet of colors. After drying, each painting is perused 360° for a biblical theme which may be enhanced by the artist making it easier to see and comprehend. Inspired by parables and stories told in the Old and New Testaments each painting will be displayed with a bible scripture, artist insight and commentary.

I’ve always wanted to paint moments in the bible that have inspired me throughout my life, states Rick a 1969 graduate of Vesper George School of Art (merged with Mass Art Boston.)

My love of God, belief in Jesus and desire to live for an eternity have course-corrected my moral compass a few times over the years; hopefully negotiating the narrow path to Heaven’s Pearly Gates.

I pray that this exhibit will gather any lost sheep that may have stepped off that path or are resting, waiting for their shepherd to return.

The exhibit will be on display November 3 - 30 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Marblehead’s Stetson Art Gallery on 28 Mugford Street, Marblehead. The opening reception is November 3, 12-2 pm. Hope to see you there.
