The Unitarian Universalist Church of Marblehead is a liberal religious community that celebrates spiritual and intellectual inquiry and growth. We are inspired to practice and promote our Unitarian Universalist values and principles with acceptance, compassion and love both within our church and in the larger world community.
Our congregation is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), which represents over 1,000 congregations. Our society’s membership in the UUA is purely voluntary – member congregations are free to support or reject the UUA’s recommendations and resolutions. On both a national and congregational level, decisions are made by the democratic process, with final authority resting in the membership of the society rather than by an organized hierarchy.
The governing body of our congregation consists of nine elected members of the Board of Trustees. The Board meets monthly and is responsible for the operation of the congregation, long-range planning, preparation of the budget, approval of financial records and annual approval of regular standing and special committees within the congregation.
At the Annual Meeting of the entire congregation, the annual budget is approved, members of the Board are elected, and other business matters are addressed.
